What's coming to Independence Mall in Wilmington NC

Independence Mall is mostly known for having clothing stores that carry just about any fashion to suit your taste as well as a food court.

But it is almost becoming a one-stop shopping destination for all sorts of needs. The mall recently welcomed a pet store, health and beauty body care and more.

Here's a list of recently opened stores, what's coming soon and places that have relocated within the mall.

Prestige WorldWyde: AirBnB owners needing to outfit a new location can stop by Prestige WorldWyde and talk with owners Christian and Rorey McCurdy to accommodate their needs. The store, which opened in mid-April, advertises that its prices are well below retail. It's located next to the train depot in the JC Penney wing. It's open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.

Pet Supplies Plus: A grand opening was held in June for Pet Supplies Plus, which carries a wide selection of natural pet foods, goods and pet services. It also offers amenities such as self-pet wash stations, a pet care team and carry-out service. Dogs are always allowed. Its outside entrance is next to Belk's facing Oleander Drive. Temperance Arts: This new tattoo and piercing shop opened in June near the JCPenney wing. While it's only been open a few months, the business is already showing off plenty of its art on its Facebook page.

Soleil: This health and beauty body care and cosmetics store opened near the food court on June 26.

Going Beyond the Pink: This nonprofit organization that serves as a place for breast cancer support and resources, opened in March. Located across from Dillard's, its mission is to empower breast cancer patients and survivors with knowledge and support so they can thrive through treatment into survivorship.

3-D World: Listed as a specialty electronics and entertainment toys and hobbies technology and gaming store, 3-D World opened in June.

JD Sports: A sports fashion store and retailer of branded sports and casual wear will soon open at the mall. The retailer will sell such brands as Nike, adidas, Puma, The North Face, and also private labels such as Pink Soda and Supply & Demand. It's projected to open by the end of 2023.

Earthbound Trading Company: If you have ever shopped at the clothing store Earthbound Trading Company in Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, looking for boho or hippie style clothing, then you'll be glad to know that it's expected to open at Independence Mall in early 2024. The store also will carry crystals and home decor.

Top Toad: Known for multiple locations in Wilmington, this place to shop for University of North Carolina Wilmington college swag, graphic tees and local souvenirs has moved to a new location. Top Toad has been in the mall for 13 years and is now located in the JCPenney wing by the train.

Style Bar Boutique: This family owned and operated women clothing store has relocated and is now open right across from its previous location of five years in the JC Penney wing. For more, call 910-769-6262.
